Fatimah Ali on Glen Beck

"And, while Beck urges his listeners to "form a covenant with God, based on the qualities of faith, hope and charity," why would he want to dishonor the date of the great March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historic "I Have a Dream" speech?"

Dear friends,

I've not been paying much attention to Glen Beck, even though his name is making news headlines a lot these days. Therefore, I'm honored to share this witty and informative piece with you, on the link below, that was recently written by a friend of mine at the Philadelphia Daily News, Fatimah Ali. Enjoy!

The fact is Beck is a money hungry charlatan. He needs to be ignored, not discussed. All the attention is inadvertently making a nobody into somebody.

Due to all the media attention to his rantings, I unsuccessfully tried to watch his show once. His words and actions were nonsensical and too painful to continue. Anyone who follows him is a fool and should also be dismissed as silly.

Beck is attempting to dilute whatever value MLK's dream and accomplishments has for us by co-opting his words and actions. Many are upset about this, and spending too much time responding to him.

Because Glenn Beck already booked the Lincoln Memorial on Aug. 28th to hold his rally, Black civil rights "leaders" are perturbed at not being able to commemorate,  this year, the 47th anniversary of the historic March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King’s famed “I Have A Dream” speech at the location where it happened. They must keep to the appropriate agenda and realize they have only been out flanked by him this year.

Beck, Limbaugh, et al, are only as dangerous as we make them out to be. Their followers are going to be in some nut's camp, and not supportive of a righteous agenda for the country anyway. Leave them to frolic alone in their delirium. They are harmless unless we make them out to be harmful.
