The recent mainstream media coverage of Paula Deen's use of the so-called N-word is a red herring Only a year ago (2012), in a taped interview, she spoke regretfully about how the Civil War ruined the lives of so many who lost their "workers" as a result of the Union's victory ending chattel slavery.
